A Love 4 Sailing

Day six brought temperatures in the low 60′with 5 to 12 knots east to northeast winds.   Three races today, race 8 we started in the middle of the line.  Our main goal today was to stay in front of the second boat.  With good speed we headed off to the left and tacked on the first shift.   Crossed our main competitior and headed to the right.  We sailed conservatively and covered the fleet.  We had a ten boatlength lead at the weather mark.  We stayed in front all the way around and finished first.

Race Nine:  We again started in the middle of the line.  This time we protectected the left side and pushed the fleet to right.   We covered the fleet all around the course until the last beat.  The second and thrid place boat separated as we covered the second place boat.  As we approached the finish line the third place boat picked up a nice left wind shift.  This allowed them to cross us just before the finish.  We ended second.  Putting our main competitor in third. 

Race Ten  Middle of the line start.  Tacked right with the two boats closest to us in points.  We covered them the whole race and finished first.  Our main competitor had  three 3rds today.  This now gives us a 10 point lead with 6 races to go.

Prediction is for heavy winds tomorrow and more cold weather.   Thanks to Bev Roberts, Pinky and Rowell Green for showing up for support. With three or four more good races we should be able to wrap this up.
